Welcome
Roy Duffy is a businessman who lives in Newcastle, the largest regional city in NSW, Australia. During his business career, Roy was considered Newcastle’s leading “Special Events Caterer”, often co-ordinating catering for crowds up to 30,000 people a day.
Roy Duffy went on to establish Australia’s first fully franchised catering company, Australian Spit Roast Professionals. Within a few years it was considered the market leader with 60 franchisees Australia wide.
He was twice President of Newcastle Business Club, leading the transition from a men only club to the city’s leading hub for business men and women.
He was founding Chair of Barrington Resources, a company developing mineral leases in the Hunter and New England areas of New South Wales. He also had coal mining interests in Queensland.
Since selling his catering businesses, Roy has had more time to devote to supporting his community. Over the years, Roy Duffy has offered his extensive business knowledge to support charities. His passion has been working with disadvantaged and marginalised people, including those from racially diverse backgrounds who often suffer prejudice. He has led and continues to support animal welfare organisations as well as his local Surf Life Saving Club. He has for many years been Patron of Cooks Hill Surf Lifesaving Club.
He continues to mentor people starting out in business, including Indigenous men and women. Roy is also a mentor in the University of Newcastle’s communications department mentoring program since 2007.
Roy is married with adult children. His interests are sport, especially soccer, which he now enjoys from the sidelines. He travels with his wife Kaye, is active in current affairs and community projects, and enjoys the company of family, friends and his little rescue dog, Woody.
